Shri Mahadev Temple, Tambdi Surla
About god: Shri Mahadev also known as Lord Shiva.
Land Mark: Temple is about 65 kilometres from the capital city of Panaji
Brief history: This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was built in the 12th century. It is built using black basalt deep inside the dense forest and thus was able to survived Muslim invasions and Portuguese persecution.The symbol of the Kadamba kingdom, an elephant trampling a horse is carved on the base of one of the columns. The river Surla flows nearby.
Famous festival: The festival of Mahashivratri is celebrated in grand way with huge gathering.
